Ways you can be of service:
  • Mentor (sponsor) youth incarcerated at Ron Jackson & the Brownwood Halfway House
  • Both Men & Women are needed as mentors @ Ron Jackson
  • Volunteer to help with locating prerelease contacts for paroling Youth
  • Purchase a Big Book or Grapevine subscription for an incarcerated alcoholic youth
  • Put money in the CFC Can
Process for being an approved volunteer (for Halfway House or Ron Jackson mentoring:
  • REQUISITE: 1 year sobriety. No drug-delivery / capital / sex offense convictions
  • COMMITMENT: 4 - 8 hours / month
  • Fill out the application
  • 3 separate personal reference forms
  • Interview with the Volunteer Services Coordinator
  • Attend orientation
  • Fingerprinting
  • Send a head & shoulder picture to the Volunteer Coordinator for your badge
General Rules @ Ron Jackson:
  • No metal objects allowed on campus
  • Always RSVP to the staff before visiting your sponsee
  • Keys will be left at the gatehouse
  • Any literature brought in must be in the clear bag provided by TJJD
  • Preview rules on contraband and leave all unnecessary items in the car
  • Always wear your volunteer badge
