Guidelines for A. A. Corrections Correspondence Program
Letters you receive from an inmate will be forwarded to you from the CFC Coordinator.
The inmate will never be given your personal address.
  • When you write to the inmate, write directly to the address at the facility and include his inmate identification number.
  • Use the CFC Committee PO Box as the return address on the envelope. Have the inmate address letters to you like this:
Your name & last initial
C/O Correctional Facilities Committee
PO Box 1133
Brownwood, TX  76804
  • Do not send the inmate ANYTHING other than letters. Even A.A. literature is considered contraband if it is not provided in the proper way and cleared through the proper authorities.
  • Inmates are not screened, so we suggest you do not give personal information such as last names, occupations, addresses or phone numbers.
  • Do not get too personal when sharing your experience, strength and hope. Focus on things like attendance at AA meetings, having a sponsor, working the Steps, being of service. You will know what to write based on your experience with both the Steps and your sponsor.
BEFORE COMMITTING TO WRITE, PLEASE BE VERY SURE YOU ARE WILLING AND ABLE TO RESPOND PROMPTLY AND REGULARY.

If for any reason you cannot write, contact a CFC member immediately.
