What if you needed a meeting and couldn't get to one?

Ways you can be of service:
  • Be part of a rotation team to carry a meeting into the prison.
  • Volunteer to be a prerelease AA contact.
  • Purchase a softcover Big Book or Grapevine subscription for an incarcerated alcoholic.
  • Put money in the CFC Can.
Information for going into the prison:
  • REQUISITE: 1 year sobriety.
  • COMMITMENT: 1 -2 meetings per month, 2 hours/meeting.
  • You can go in with an experienced AA member up to 4 times without attending orientation.
  • Women & men volunteers are both allowed.
  • You do NOT have to have been incarcerated to carry the message. *
  • * If you have been convicted or incarcerated, you will need to be 18 months clear from release or disposition of any criminal charge (excluding traffic tickets)
  • * If you are on any type of adult supervision, you will be required to provide a letter from your supervising officer stating they are aware you are wishing to become a volunteer at the TDCJ.
General guidelines:
  • Wear proper attire. NO shorts, sweatpants, open-toed shoes, or sandals allowed.
  • Always bring your driver's license.
  • Leave ALL unnecessary items in your vehicle - phones, pocketknives, wallet, etc.
